Honda City Becomes Pakistan’s Best-Selling Sedan in June 2022

By June 2022, the Honda City will be the most popular sedan in Pakistan. According to official sales numbers, Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) and Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) witnessed a significant increase in sales, while Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) and Hyundai Nishat Motors Private Limited (HNMPL) registered a minor uptick.

The best sales figures for Hyundai Nishat Motor Private Limited (HNMPL) since its introduction in Pakistan were sadly not high enough to place it among the top five best-selling vehicles.

Wagon R has fallen by two spots but still remains on the top-five list. Last month, PSMC sold 2,134 units of Wagon R, which has landed it in the 5th spot among the best-selling vehicles in Pakistan, making it a consistent top performer.

The mini-MPV is the car of choice among ride-hailing service drivers, corporations, and young families due to its reliability, availability of spare parts, relatively cheap price, and ideal fuel economy.

In June 2022, the Suzuki Cultus entered the top-five seller's list, surpassing other reliable competitors like the Toyota Yaris, Suzuki Swift, and Wagon R. The company sold 2,468 units of Cultus last month, increasing sales by a staggering 94 percent month over month (MoM).

In June's top-five seller's list, the Toyota Corolla dropped one spots as a result of its major rival's strong showing. The Corolla was the third best-selling vehicle of the month overall in June 2022 thanks to sales of 2,626 units by Toyota IMC.

The Toyota Corolla's winning record has been interrupted by Honda City, which is now the most popular sedan in June 2022. Last month, HACL sold an amazing 2,764 copies of the City, outselling various A-segment vehicles as well as the Toyota Yaris, Corolla, Changan Alsvin, and Suzuki Swift.

Sales of the Honda City will probably improve going forward because of its smaller-engined form, which is charged lower taxes than vehicles with engines bigger than 1300cc.

The Suzuki Alto maintains its hegemonic position as Pakistan's best-selling automobile. For the sixth month in a row in 2022, PSMC sold 7,487 units of the Alto, making it Pakistan's best-selling vehicle.

The popularity of the Suzuki Alto among ride-hailing services, young professionals, college students, and families with little resources is another factor in its high sales. Its extremely economical fuel efficiency and relatively lower price continue to be its main selling features.
