Apple releases the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, which include 48MP cameras, an improved display, and other features.
The Pro and Pro Max siblings are here to stay, but the iPhone Mini may be permanently gone. Every improvement starts here, as usual, and the new Pro phones are proof of that.
These phones include a new chipset, stronger cameras, and what appears to be a stopgap between punch-hole and notched displays: a pill cutout on the screen.
What Apple has disclosed about the two phones is listed below.
Presentation and Style
The centerpiece of these new displays is a new cutout in the form of a pill. Because the cameras are 30% smaller, it takes up less room than the famed wide notch. Apple has given it the name Dynamic Island since it uses the surrounding black pixels to provide some dynamic effects. In addition to showing your minimized apps and overlay to aid in multitasking, it can be used for alerts.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus both have the same display sizes. The screen size of the iPhone 14 Pro is 6.1 inches, while the Pro Max's screen measures 6.7 inches. The much-anticipated Always-On display has arrived, and its maximum brightness has been increased to 2000 nits. These phones can reduce their refresh rates from 120Hz to just 1Hz thanks to LTPO 2.0 technology, which maximizes battery life.
Hardware and software
According to Apple, the new A16 Bionic chip is 20% more effective and 40% faster than the competitors. It boasts a 50% greater memory bandwidth, a six-core CPU, a five-core GPU, and an upgraded AI engine. There are still 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1TB storage configurations available for memory.
All phones will automatically launch iOS 16 and the Pro variants also include satellite connectivity.
Camera
Apple's Pro phones now have cameras that are 16MP instead of 12MP. The new sensor has a 48MP resolution, but by default, it will only capture images with a 12MP resolution. In the camera app, cutting from the center of the image enables a new intermediary 2x zoom option thanks to the greater quality. For crisper pictures and better macro shots, there is a new 12MP ultrawide camera as well. The OIS-equipped 3x telephoto camera is still available.
You receive second-generation sensor-shift stabilization for steady films and stills, along with 4K 60 FPS video recording, much as the base models. The selfie camera on the more affordable iPhone 14 devices with autofocus is a 12MP TrueDepth camera.
Pricing and Battery
The battery life is not specified, but according to Apple, video playing on the iPhone 14 Pro should last for about 23 hours and on the iPhone 14 Pro Max for roughly 29 hours. In just 30 minutes, the phones may be charged up to 50%.
Beginning at $999, the iPhone 14 Pro will cost $1099 for the Pro Max. These phones will come in Space Black, Silver, Gold, and a brand-new shade called Deep Purple.
