Pakistan has a plethora of opportunities thanks to the Metaverse.

Mentioning Pakistan and the Metaverse together seems inappropriate. The former is a developing nation caught in what seems to be an endless cycle of economic and geopolitical unrest, while the latter is the impending peak of human technology. Pakistan appears to be the final nation to join the Metaverse in any capacity.

Pakistan's issues, though, are already well recognized. The goal of this post is to envision a better future, not to lament the past or the present.

Metaverse: An Overview.

The Metaverse is the next-generation Internet. Imagine the Metaverse as a world of linked virtual words. Users of the Metaverse will be able to switch between worlds without having to return to the actual world in the same way that smartphone users switch between apps on their portable devices.

many businesses. The Metaverse is ipso facto emerging as a result of the natural advancement of technology. Similar to how the Internet was created in the 1990s as a result of a combination of advancing technology from decades prior and rising consumer expectations. The same forces of supply and demand are at play right now. Our offspring will witness the Metaverse in its full glory while we are only now starting to detect its presence.

Do not consider the Metaverse to be only a virtual replica of your real life. Instead, think of it as a range of improbable alternate realities with psychological implications. The way people interact with technology, one another, and the rest of the world will alter as a result of the metaverse. In the end, it will even change how we think about what a world is.

Why is the Metaverse relevant?

The potential economic worth makes it significant. I'll use a comparison to demonstrate.

Since the Internet's inception, most industries have gone "digital." And today, 30 years later, just 15% of the global economy is entirely digital, with the remaining 85% being enhanced by digital technology. As a result, the Internet's influence is widespread.

The global economy will be taken over by the Metaverse at a similar rate and in a similar amount of time.

And while turning digital was a significant shift, this one will be even bigger since technology is becoming an ever more important part of economic activity. Some predict that the Metaverse will create tens of millions of new employment, worth more than $10 trillion.

Entry of Pakistan into the Metaverse

When there is a high demand for something, those in the greatest position to supply it profit greatly. Therefore, it is advantageous to set oneself up for an impending future. During the digital revolution, this core idea helped several nations turn around their economies; two significant examples from Pakistan's neighborhood are China and India.

I presented Pakistani decision-makers with a list of bold tech-related ideas many years ago. However, my concept was too broad and needed a lot of resources and bandwidth. It wasn't prepared for Pakistan (nor is it ready yet). So I adjusted my doctrine in light of that. Now I think Pakistan should deliberately back off and emphasize solely technology defining the future.

In light of that, the Pakistani government may want to consider the following:

Put together a think tank:

Before it can create successful policies, the state needs to learn more about the Metaverse. So creating a focused think tank should come first. The administration would be able to engage pertinent specialists without having to wade through arduous red tape. The analysis and suggestions from the think tank will assist the state in carefully drafting an official policy.

Creating a Metaverse policy

Why is this rule necessary? First and foremost, to profit from the emerging Metaverse economy. Second, to control virtual encounters that might have negative psychosomatic outcomes (for example, porn in virtual reality). Thirdly, we'll talk about the gathering, use, rights, and consequences of data. Compared to social media, the metaverse will gather a lot more useful information. Nearly every action, every phrase, every facial expression, and a lot more will be captured by cameras, microphones, and other sensors in the Metaverse. Before internet companies sweep in and pressure government officials into signing contracts that enslave Pakistan's virtual future under the guise of globalization, Pakistan urgently needs a Metaverse policy.

Offer rewards to service providers:

There is a burgeoning industry of computer service companies in Pakistan. Their main source of income is creating websites and apps for international customers. The government can encourage this developer community to begin building a portfolio of Metaverse initiatives by offering incentives. By doing this, a sufficient number of Pakistani service providers will eventually adapt to the Metaverse tech stack, giving the nation a long-term competitive

advantage.

Sync academics:

To enable the Metaverse, significant improvements in computing power, blockchain technology, bandwidth, networking, and AI-based optimizations are required. The demand for professionals with knowledge of 3D and VR modeling, animation, and utilizing APIs to build immersive 3D experiences is also rising. The academic community in Pakistan should foster these competencies through curriculum and research. Therefore, it may be required that technical colleges provide pertinent courses or at least one "Metaverse 101" course. If there aren't enough qualified professors available, an appropriate online course or seminar (like Stanford's) can be made required. A modest beginning like this may someday grow into a more significant curriculum improvement as the Metaverse develops.
