Pakistani viral meme to be sold at auction as NFT

On September 30 at the online art market Foundation, the "Wow Grape" meme that comically went viral last year will be auctioned off as a Non-Fungible Token (NFT).

According to a press statement, a portion of the purchase price of the NFT would be given to the Pakistani flood victims through a reputable charity.

An old YouTube video of an occasion at a Pakistani school in Saudi Arabia is where the popular meme got its start. The remark "Wow fantastic" was misheard as "Wow Grape" by social media users, making it a particularly well-liked component of the hilarious film. Sehar Kamran, a politician and former senator from Pakistan, was the school's then-principal at the time, and his enthusiastic pronunciation led to the misunderstanding.

A meme made from video clips that went viral on social media around the world and was adapted into templates for different platforms. Since then, they have been incorporated into GIFs, videos, text slang, and meme picture formats.

Wow Grape's videos received over 63 million views in total and unexpectedly gained international renown and even became a Tiktok craze. Celebrities and social media influencers from all around the world posted the iconic meme in various forms, including remakes, reposts, and remakes.

With Kamran's consent and in cooperation with the Swedish-Pakistani software company, Maqsoft, the "Wow Grape" NFT auction will take place.
