YouTube receives a visual makeover as well as numerous new features.
YouTube is now prepared to provide changes to the general public after months of testing new features, but don't worry, there's nothing disagreeable about them. The video-sharing website has made the decision to launch a darker theme, Ambient Mode, and changes to YouTube Music.
The redesigned dark theme makes it appear much darker than before. On mobile devices, TVs, and the web version, it will now be "much darker, so the colours truly pop on your screen." It appears dark grey for now, but it will soon turn into a deep black that resembles YouTube Music. The battery life of gadgets having OLED screens ought to increase as a result.
You can immerse yourself in videos even more with the new Ambient Mode. The status bar and title strip on your phone will both be tinted, blending everything together around your video and reducing distractions. Once the dark theme is set, Ambient Mode will be accessible on both the web and mobile devices. The small tweak should enhance YouTube's aesthetic appeal as a whole. This is how it will seem.
Additionally, pinching into movies will allow you to finally zoom in on them. Soon, the update will be released for Android and iOS, and it will only function in landscape mode (horizontal orientation). Additionally, the seek bar that displays video progress is about to become more accurate. As soon as you want to see a row of thumbnails in the video player, you can "drag or swipe up."
The subscribe button will have greater contrast so that it sticks out and is easier to spot even if it is no longer red, and many of the buttons will soon be contained inside small capsules. Links to YouTube in description text will also change to buttons.
The update has begun to spread over the world, but it can take a few days for it to reach you. More information is available in the blog post from YouTube.
Although YouTube for Android TV may be more popular than ever right now, the app hasn't undergone any significant updates in a while. We're not saying Google isn't working hard on new features; we're just not sure how much a Shorts shelf in YouTube on our (horizontal) TVs is something we actually need. Thankfully, the most recent update of the app throws us a bone by bringing some helpful changes to YouTube's Android TV user interface.
Another UI modification darkens the video suggestions displayed beneath the progress bar; they remain visible even as you navigate the video. As a result, it now requires more taps on your remote to access the buttons for like or disliking, playback speed, and quality adjustments. This may require some time to get used to. The updated user interface (UI) feels motivated by smaller devices and marks a significant shift from YouTube's prior big-screen appearance. There is undoubtedly a little more visual clutter (but there is also more information), so perhaps these adjustments will continue to improve the user experience and make YouTube on other platforms more seamless.
