Qualcomm Will Give Mid-Range Phones Flagship Power

On March 17, Qualcomm will hold a launch ceremony to introduce a new chipset from the Snapdragon 7 series. This processor is anticipated to be the Gen 2 upgrade to the current model, which debuted in the spring of 2022.

However, it is more likely that the new chipset will be called Snapdragon 7 Gen 2, adhering to the new naming pattern of the Snapdragon 8 series. Although the name of the new platform has not yet been formally revealed, rumors are also pointing toward Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1.

At the time, we don't know very much about the new chipset. The Snapdragon SM7475 chipset, according to a Geekbench profile leak, is expected to have four 1.8 GHz Cortex-A510 cores, three 2.5 GHz Cortex-A710 cores, and one 2.92 GHz Cortex-X2 core. The use of Cortex-X2 on a mid-range chipset by Snapdragon will be a first, if the information is true. As a result, the upcoming Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 processor will be almost as potent as flagship chips from earlier generations.

According to one leaker, the platform will be produced by TSMC using a 4nm technology, and the GPU will be an Adreno 725 with a 580Hz clock speed.

Although we are unsure of which devices will receive this chip first, it will power higher mid-range phones in 2023 and possibly early 2024. We will have to wait to learn which phones will use the new chipset because Qualcomm usually makes that announcement at the time of the launch of a new product.
