You might be able to use your phone to play games on Netflix.
Bloomberg and Steve Moser, a contributor to MacRumors, both reported that Netflix would let customers use their iPhones to operate games on their TVs. This action is consistent with Netflix's recent declaration that its games would be "playable on every Netflix device that you have."
A message that reads: "A game on your TV needs a controller to play," Moser continued, demonstrating how the iOS app has code suggesting that the phone could be used as a game controller. Do you want to use this phone as a joystick for video games?
Netflix started offering smartphone games in late 2021; since then, 55 games have been made available, and 40 more are expected to do so in 2019. These games, however, are only supported by iOS and Android devices and cannot be played on devices with bigger screens, like TVs or laptops.
Netflix is thinking about using mobile devices as controllers in order to prevent developing a specific game controller, as Google did for its now-defunct Stadia service. It also recently disclosed that it is creating a cloud gameplay platform that might use mobile devices as controllers.
Netflix's VP of games, Mike Verdu, stated that the business was sincerely investigating cloud gaming features back in October of last year.
