First foldable tablet could be released by Samsung this year.

In comparison to full-fledged tablets, foldable smartphones offer a larger screen on which to play. Even though foldable phones have been available for a while, the world's first folding tablet might eventually debut this year.

Samsung was the first to do it with smartphones, and it might be the first to do it with tablets as well, at least based on a report from tipster "Revengus". According to the tip, Samsung will release a Z Tab foldable tablet this year in addition to its Galaxy Tab S9.

Although there are currently no rumours regarding the device's features, it is expected to have a significantly larger screen than the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which has a 7.6-inch inner display. At the very least, we may anticipate something larger than 10 inches, albeit probably not as large as the flagship Tab S8 Ultra, which has a 14-inch display. Whether the tablet will fit in a pocket when folded cannot be predicted in advance.

It will undoubtedly be powered by top-tier components including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip from Qualcomm, a 120Hz AMOLED screen, and a huge battery that will probably be divided in two. A magnetic dock and support for a S Pen could be included. It won't be intended for the general public, though, given its higher price tag for being a foldable tablet. In any case, the second half of the year, when the Galaxy Tab S9 series is anticipated to launch, is when we can expect to learn more about it.

Samsung may seek to fast enter the foldable tablet market for another reason. According to rumors, Apple won't first join the foldable smartphone market with an iPhone Flip but rather with a foldable iPad. In fact, this rumour is believed to have come from a number of sources, including Samsung's own staff.

If a market exists for foldable tablets, it may be assumed that Apple will dominate it if given the chance. Tablets are a very different situation, even while slightly under a third of the world's population prefers iOS to Android(opens in new tab). More than half of today's smartphones are iPads.(opens in new tab). Samsung has a market share of roughly 30% for tablets. However, don't anticipate a foldable tablet to be inexpensive. Samsung's premium Galaxy Tab S tablets start at $699, while the Galaxy Z Flip 4, the company's entry-level foldable phone, costs $999. However, if you think that spending four figures is a bargain in exchange for portability, you should pay special attention to the next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked events.

There are no known specifications, but we can assume that a foldable Galaxy Z Tab would have a foldable display that was considerably larger than the 7.6-inch screen that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has when it is opened. Otherwise, Samsung would not be making the product because the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is already on the market. A 10-inch monitor or bigger would be perfect, please.

You can see the appeal of the latter, which Samsung will probably try with a foldable tablet. While having a huge screen is fantastic for traveling, the tablet becomes less portable as the screen size increases.
